10 Best Horror Anthology TV Shows
7. Tales From The Darkside
Created by the fantastic George A. Romero this horror anthology series certainly gave credit to its late-night slot for its four-season run. The show was inspired by the success of the Creepshow films and aimed to create something in a similar vein, even making the title a homage to the EC comics Tales from the Crypt (remember that name for later).
The series created some great original stories but also adapted shorts by fantastic authors such as Stephen King, Frederik Pohl, Clive Barker, Harlan Ellison and more. This blend of well-known horror authors and original episodes meant that the show was forever fresh and robust when it came to its variety of scares.
Tales From the Darkside even got a film adaptation in 1990 which goes to show how the series managed to garner good acclaim and went down a success. Some of the best episodes from this gruesome show include The Circus, Levitation, The Tear Collector, and The Last Car.
The use of shocking imagery and fantastic practical effects gave this show a wonderfully unique look and helped to cement its legacy as a spectacular late-night cable television show.
