P Diddy (Or Puff Daddy, or even just Sean Combs, if you’d rather) isn’t particularly known for his acting. It’s almost because of this though, with his appearance both jarring and extremely fitting the Sunny universe, that his cameo was so memorable.

Despite not being the most experienced actor in the world, Diddy essentially played two roles in the same episode. Once, when he was pretending to be the mystical doctor curing Charlie’s mother’s cancer, and secondly when it was revealed the whole thing was a scam, and he was actually a gardener. He’s hilarious as both, and the off kilter nature of his performance was very deliberate.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Glenn Howerton (Dennis) explained that Diddy was a fan of the show, and was offered a role by Charlie after the pair met. When writing the episode though, the three main cast members decided to give Diddy the ‘whitest character’ they could think of, and so the unique Doctor Jinx was born.

Diddy apparently held his own on set too, improvising certain bits and really buying into the reactionary nature of the show’s comedy. A strange guest star certainly, but also a great one.
