10 Best Jobs Homer Simpson Has Ever Had
2. Executive At Globex
Hank Scorpio was the other Season Eight character from the Beer Baron entry, joining Rex, Grimey, Sherri Bobbins, Larry Burns, John and Belle as the legendary Season Eight guest characters.
Even amongst those though, Scorpio is a clear standout, and through his dynamic with Homer, lands Homer’s Globex job in second place.
As far as the job goes, it’s just a managerial version of his power plant position. There’s nothing which would make it special if you just focus on Homer’s time talking to his team wearing his Tom Landry hat.
It’s through his dynamic with Scorpio that this became the second highest rated episode in Simpsons history, second only to Frank Grimes’ episode, Homer’s Enemy.
The rest of the family are all brilliant here too, but they don’t really have an impact on Homer’s job.
What certainly does have an impact though is Scorpio’s villainy, in which Homer is an unwitting assistant by tackling James Bond parody, Mr Bont. Albert Brooks, who also played Russ Cargill and Tab Spangler, has a brilliant improv dynamic with Dan Castellanata’s Homer, and truly brings this role and episode to life.
