10 Best Jobs Homer Simpson Has Ever Had
8. Krusty
Originally, Homer and Krusty were supposed to be the same character. The gag was that Bart worshipped his favourite TV clown, while only having contempt for his father, not realising Homer was actually his hero. Like Marge having rabbit ears under her beehive, this was thrown out in the development stages. Still, it shouldn’t be any surprise then that Homer was a brilliant Krusty.
Having gone to clown college because a billboard told him to, Homer becomes the official imitation Krusty for Springfield. Being Krusty in Krusty’s hometown has some positives and some negatives though, as he soon finds out.
Chief Wiggum doesn’t give him a ticket and he gets preferential treatment at Luigi’s restaurant, which seems like a pretty good deal. Unfortunately, he also winds up a mafia target, due to the real Krusty being in their debt.
He’s captured just as the real Krusty turns himself in, and they both must perform a bicycle trick to survive. The Rube Goldberg style trick is one of the best small scale set pieces the show has ever done, and sees them both escape unharmed.
He later replaces Krusty on TV as a talk show host while Krusty is retooled, but is average at best.
