10 Best Jobs Homer Simpson Has Ever Had

Homer The Smithers is one of the quintessential Simpsons episodes, and with an 8.9 on IMDb is recognised as one of their best ever. With that in mind, it’s impossible not to consider Homer’s short stint as Mr Burns’ assistant amongst his best jobs.

It’s absolutely jam packed with classic Homer moments, wringing every drop of hilarity out of the situation. First there’s Homer reading out various announcements from the previous day, culminating in Mr Burns having 30 minutes to move his cube.

There’s also him failing at making breakfast so much he burns cereal, telling Burns his stock options are to get up or go back to sleep, and eventually punching him in the face.

Undoubtedly though, the crowning moment is when Smithers is fired, and Homer tries to get him his job back by impersonating Burns’ mother on the phone.

It’s a treat of an episode as we get completely different dynamics between three long established characters: Burns, Smithers, and Homer.

The Simpsons doesn’t do action sequences as often as shows like Family Guy, but Homer fighting Smithers ranks above their best. Everything returning to normal at the end feels natural, and Homer’s time as Smithers won’t be soon forgotten.
