6. Excitable Edgar - 2019

This year's advert is a return to the more traditional advert we've come to love and expect from John Lewis.

Excitable Edgar is just a little dragon, trying to join in with all the fun of the festive season only for everything to go up in literal smoke. It's a funny advert with the the girl providing much of the comedy with her priceless expressions and trumpeting.

Personally, I find Edgar looks a little too much like Earl Sinclair from Dinosaurs but he's still very cute. The cover of REO Speedwagon's 80's classic, Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore is also well used.

The main reason why this one ranks on the lower end of the list is simple, John Lewis is the king of Christmas adverts so it's tough competition out there for Edgar. Also by sharing their advert with Waitrose this year, we also miss out on an extra wonderful festive advert.
