Last year's Elton John advert was probably one of the more universally disliked of John Lewis' more recent adverts, but I actually really liked it.

If you look past the idea that it could be an advert for Elton's tour and biographical movie (and that John Lewis don't even sell pianos), the advert has a heartwarming message about gift giving. The idea that a childhood gift could inspire so much is quite wonderful, especially since Elton is seen in the last scene playing the same piano.

Also following the use of Ellie Goulding's version in 2010, it was nice to once again hear Your Song in a Christmas advert.
