10 Best League Of Gentlemen Characters
5. Geoff Tipps
Considering his biggest flaw was he could change into a nasty piece of work at the drop of a coin, I might be inclined to say Geoff Tipps was one of the more "normal" people in Royston Vasey. But let's not go too far, he's still an outrageous and disturbed individual - but compared to others in this list he was practically sane.
We all know (or knew) someone like Geoff; a man who grew up around childish one-upmanship and never seemed to move on. What sets Geoff apart from reality was how he handled situations that seemed to threaten his imagined status as alpha of the pack. His resentment for the close friendship between work colleagues Mike and Brian would boil into overblown and enraged outbursts - often involving him drawing a gun.
Whether he's the butt of banter between friends, or being ousted as centre of attention, Geoff wasn't far away from being insulted by a slight gesture from a well-meaning friend.
Shearsmith killed it as the roaring, jowly man with alcohol blemishes - and the way he callously tried to stir trouble amongst Mike and Brian tells us everything we need to know about the plastics salesman.
