5. Thor (Michael Shanks)
Thor, the Norse God of Thunder (and not the one played by Chris Hemsworth) was a firm ally of Earth, taking humanity under his wing and helping them where he could. In the first season, the Asgard were revealed to be a highly advanced race that resemble the Roswell Greys (and played by puppets). They had tried to help humanity in the past, disguising themselves through holograms to be the large, armed Norse Gods that know more commonly.
Thor was the most commonly seen of the Asgard, frequently appearing to help or to request help from humanity in their conflicts with the Goa'uld and the Replicators. Thor informed the UN Security Council of Asgard's existence, he risked his life personally to help defeat the Replicators and Anubis in Reckoning.
Thor was also voiced by Michael Shanks, something that he noted in the final episode of SG-1, when Vala asked Daniel Jackson how he could tell the various Asgard apart. He replied 'the voice'.
