It wouldn't be too far to say that Michael Rooker is one of The Walking Dead's most successful movie stars, having already had a startling career before taking the role of Daryl's impulsive brother Merle. But it wasn't until the MCU came knocking that the actor was launched fully into the mainstream.

Cast as Yondu, a bandit and leader of the infamous Ravagers clan, Rooker turns up in Guardians of the Galaxy in an instantly iconic role. Not only is he the father figure to protagonist Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), he's also one of the film's most complex and intriguing characters, with a killer weapon of choice to boot.

Guardians of the Galaxy, thanks to its fresh take on the MCU, its top-tier humour and excellent character development, is often cited as one of the franchise's most popular installments, and there's no doubt part of that is down to Rooker's performance. He turned up again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 (2017), somehow finding a way to give an even better performance than before.

"I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!" Enough said.
