10 Best New Cartoons Of The Decade

4. Adventure Time

Rick and Morty
Cartoon Network

Adventure Time is, to put it mildly, a bit of a strange show. It debuted just as the decade began in 2010, finishing over 280 episodes later in 2018. Yes, episodes are only ten minutes each, but that’s still an amazing achievement for a show often criticised for being too mature for kids and too immature for adults.

The show had some of the most surreal animation sequences of the last ten years, and of all the shows here has arguably the most recognisable style. Even if you aren’t a fan of the show, you’ll know the thin characters with their long noodle arms, and the simplistic ‘dots for eyes’ faces, where noses are either long and pointy or nonexistent.

It’s Dungeons & Dragons in a blender with Cartoon Network’s classic roster, while a teenager who is, like, 'oh my god so random', pushing the button. It’s most definitely not for everyone, but even with all the weirdness, you could never accuse it of not knowing what it is.

The show ended just under a year ago with arguably the best cartoon finale since Futurama. Semper Fi, Finn and Jake.
