This is a reference to the theatrical principal observed from the works of Anton Chekov. It states that if you say in the first act of a play that there is a gun hanging on the wall, it absolutely must be used later in the production or should not be there. Archer also reminds Cyril that after they are dead, a call girl is just called a hooker.
