10 Best One-Off Characters On Peep Show
8. Celia
Series 8 Episode 2: Business Secrets Of The Pharaohs
You've got to be at a next level to out-deprave Jeremy, and while Nancy, Michelle and even Toni had their quirks, top marks have to be given to the absolute randomness of Celia.
Arriving into the show rather late, Celia becomes the gateway to Jeremy's new career path. Her encouragement for him to use his initiative, take charge and grab what he wants already smacks of hilarity. But when the two start to take their relationship to a more physical and (dare we say?) romantic level, that's when the fun really begins.
During a rather explicit scene, Celia recalls her fantasy of wearing a grass skirt made of severed male genitalia. It's a funny/disturbing mental image for the audience to project, made all the more hilarious by Jeremy's "what-the-hell-do-I-say-to-that?" expression.
Celia is a great character because despite being a voice of maturity that calls Jez out on his perversions, she's also a hypocrite. Her self-aggrandising behaviour in front of Jeremy, and suggesting she has a more stable mindset than him is something viewers could only expect from a character in Peep Show.
