10 Best One Time Only Characters In Batman: The Animated Series

7. Calendar Girl

Calendar Girl Batman
Warner Bros.

Calendar Girl appeared in The New Batman Adventures episode, Mean Seasons, as something of a more presentable version of Calendar Man, who did not appear in the series.

A gimmicky villain for sure, Calendar Girl is really former supermodel, Page Monroe. Cast aside by the fashion world following the various treatments that she has subjected herself to in order to remain looking young, Calendar Girl is one of those great psychological villains in true Batman style. When she is finally unmasked, Monroe is revealed to be truly beautiful, but all she (and, presumably, the fashionistas) can see are the scars. Unlike Calendar Man, she is therefore motivated more by her hatred of those who pushed her off of her pedestal than by seasonal dates.

The character was voiced by Sela Ward, who had memorable co-starring roles alongside Harrison Ford and Dennis Quaid in The Fugitive and The Day After Tomorrow. Ward was apparently turned down for numerous roles (purportedly including Paris Carver in the James Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies) for being too old. Therefore, this role provided her with the perfect opportunity to remind studios that "older" actress are still relevant.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
