10 Best Performances In Better Call Saul
4. Michael McKean - Charles "Chuck" McGill
Because it's been so long since Chuck McGill graced our screens, it can sometimes be easy to forget just how magnificent Michael McKean was in the role, and how for three seasons he soared as the show's most tragic and instrumental figure.
As the older brother of Jimmy and a great lawyer suffering from a rare electrical hypersensitivity disorder, McKean's job was a weighty one, forcing him to be a commanding foil to Jimmy's early attempts to make a name for himself and a brilliant man trapped by recent hardship.
McKean makes it clear that Chuck is not an easy man to like -- arrogant, casually cruel, even annoying at times, McKean nonetheless imbues him with enough hardship and anger to make him an easy antagonist to forgive.
Chuck was at once Saul's most heartbreaking and complex figure whilst he was around, and McKean's jumpy, cocky, constantly conflicted performance sold him for all his turmoil and hypocrisies.
