1. John C. McGinley
Faison, Jenkins, Reyes, Braff - they're all amazing in their respective roles, but none quite as great as John C. McGinley. As Dr Perry Cox, McGinley was at once the funniest guy on screen, and the most complicated. A veteran doctor deeply invested in his job, Cox was caged up with his demons and unable to really tap into his true feelings.
McGinley's most iconic trait as Cox was the super-fast delivery of his always hysterical rants and ravings. He could speed through monologues like no one else on the show, but under the bravado had no issues reminding the audience just how vulnerable he really was.
The reason why McGinley never received an Emmy or Golden Globe nomination for his work as Dr Cox will be a mystery until the end of time, but even without the accolades there can be no denying McGinley gave the best performance on the show.
