10 Best Performances In Scrubs

2. Zach Braff

scrubs cast
NBC

Speaking of tough jobs, Zach Braff's was certainly no picnic. Not only was J.D the narrator of the show, giving valuable life lessons at the end of each episode and filling in the various plot-points, but he was also the oddest character of the main gang. He daydreamed constantly, was socially awkward, and constantly put his foot in his mouth.

But thanks to Braff's delivery, innocent appearance and general likability, J.D was never too much to handle. His humour was strange, but it was also sharp and lighthearted; and his awkwardness was just part of his charm.

Within the bursts of surreal humour and philosophical musings, J.D also had the best arc on the show. He started the show inexperienced, on edge and out of his element, and soon became the hospital's best doctor. Braff's ability to counter J.D's weird mannerisms with his heartfelt and often tragic arc is astounding to see play-out, making it clear why he received so much praise in the role.
