As the best friend of J.D, Turk could quite easily have been the charming sidekick to Zach Braff's awkward protagonist. Whilst this is still very much what Turk is a lot of the time, with Donald Faison behind the character, Turk became a deeply compelling and great leading man in his own right. He appears in more episodes than any other character (joint with Dr Cox).

A brilliant and committed surgeon, Turk was boisterous, confident and cool, but also compassionate and sensitive. Unlike other surgeons, he liked to connect with his patients whenever possible.

Turk's relationships are when Faison best got to show off his talents as both a dramatic and comedic actor. For starters, there's his friendship with J.D, which is goofy, funny, and genuinely sweet. Then there's his romance with Carla, which has its ups and downs and allows for some truly striking moments of well-handled drama. Faison could do it all.
