10 Best Post-Apocalyptic TV Shows Of All Time
6. Snowpiercer
Snowpiercer debuted on TNT in May of 2020, and the series quickly became popular among fans of the original 1982 French Graphic Novel, Le Transperceneige. It is also based on the visual aesthetics and story created for the 2013 South Korean-Czech film of the same name, making the television series the second major adaptation of the source material.
The series isn't a continuation of the film, and instead is a reboot of the film's continuity. Snowpiercer is the name of a gigantic train that circles the planet perpetually. The people aboard are what remains of humanity, seven years after the planet became a frozen wasteland.
Of course, this isn't an ordinary train, and the society that grows and develops onboard ends up dealing with various issues, including social injustice, class warfare, and the nature of survival. Snowpiercer is comprised of 1,001 carriages and is separated by classes, most of which fight against the instilled social hierarchy, which leaves the lower-class passengers with limited resources.
Shortly after the first season was released, a second was given the green light, and while most of it was developed prior to the series premiere, COVID-19 mucked up the production and release, leaving fans wondering exactly when new content will arrive.
