10 Best Post-Apocalyptic TV Shows Of All Time

5. The Walking Dead

Robert Kirkman's critically-acclaimed comic book series about a group of survivors trying to make a life for themselves in a world overrun by zombies received the television treatment back in 2010, and the series continues through 2020. Like the comics, the series is centered around Rick Grimes and the people closest to him.

In the world of The Walking Dead, there is no explanation for how or why the dead became reanimated, and there's no cure for a bite — except for a quick and painful amputation if a victim is lucky enough to get bitten on a hand or foot.

Otherwise, they become another member of the herd, and while the zombies present a clear and present danger to the people who survived the end of the world, they aren't the main antagonists in the story. The bad guys in The Walking Dead are the other survivors, and they are incredibly dangerous.

From the Governor to a group of cannibals to Negan and the Whisperers, the television series continuously throws some of the most sadistic and nightmarish enemies at a group of people who want nothing more than to live, but nothing is easy in the world of The Walking Dead.
