10 Best Rick And Morty Episodes
4. Meseeks And Destroy
When asked to think about Rick and Morty, many images likely come to mind, and one of those is probably the brilliant Mr Meseeks. As a concept, the idea of a funny voiced helper who fixes your problems is a perfect recipe for comedy, and that comes through for the viewer as the episode divulges into an exploration of Jerry's patriarchal failings.
One of the best running aspects of the series in the mundane life of Jerry Smith, he is purely an uninteresting person who brings very little to the table, and when compared to Rick, his mere existence seems redundant. Jerry acts as the standard spectator to Rick's wild antics, and whilst he may be incredibly pathetic, in any other context, he wouldn't be so average. It's Ricks fantastical world that he doesn't fit in, not the world we know.
The conflict of this episode being the Meseeks trying to help Jerry take two strokes off of his golf game. The comedy coming from his dismissal of Beth and Summers requests, calling them out for being too grand. However, Mr Meseeks does help Summer become more popular and Beth to be a complete woman. The simple request Jerry makes falls into chaos when even the Meseeks cannot help him and his inadequacies.
The adventure plot point with Rick and Morty is also a complete series highlight, but in this episode, it's Jerry and Mr Meseeks who take the spotlight.
