10 Best Sci-Fi Comedy TV Series You Need To Watch

2. Rick And Morty

The Orville
Adult Swim

Dark. Funny. Complicated. You can use a lot of words to describe Rick and Morty but boring certainly isn't one of them. Rick is a brilliant but egotistical and emotionally distant super scientist, whose genius can't be fully described in words. His grandson, Morty, accompanies him on his adventures. Morty is a lot of things, but he's definitely not a genius.

The show explores a variety of intense themes while challenging the traditional aspects of science fiction, comedy and TV in general. Rick's awareness that he's a cartoon character in a TV series gives him a unique but removed perspective on his reality. The fact that he knows that there are infinite other realities tends to amplify his distant nature even further.

Rick and Morty has become one of the most recognised and celebrated animated series around, a verifiable crossover hit. As long as Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon want to make new episodes, Adult Swim will certainly be happy to air them. When the time comes to finish the series, it's hard to imagine Rick getting a happy ending, though.
