10 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Set In Space
6. Red Dwarf
By far the funniest show on this list, Red Dwarf has become one of the best British comedy series of all time, and amassed a worldwide cult following. The show follows Lister, the last surviving human, who wakes up after three million years of hibernation. Lister is forced to make a home on the titular spaceship, the Red Dwarf, alongside crew mates including Rimmer, a hologram, Cat, a cat/human hybrid, and Kryten, a clumsy android. The show focuses on the crew's many comical and unfortunate incidents in individual thirty minute episodes.
First airing in 1988, Red Dwarf has lived a long life full of many revivals. Twelve seasons of the show have been created across its thirty two year history. However, in true British fashion, the seasons only consist of six episodes, therefore there is not much Red Dwarf to feast on. But, in 2020, the show is still going strong with TV film, Red Dwarf: The Promised Land, being released to high critical acclaim.
With a cast of such eccentric and unusual characters, of course you'd expect bizarre events and incidents to occur. From the Polymorph attack, to the appearance of Dwayne Dibley, and the hilarious Parallel Universe, Red Dwarf is the perfect space comedy.
