10 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows Set In Space
4. The Expanse
The Expanse is easily one of the most underrated, and least talked about shows currently on TV. But it deserves any and all attention it can muster. Granted, the show has had a troubled time on the SyFy channel after its air date in 2015, and was briefly cancelled in 2018 after three seasons due to financial struggles. But, after much protest from loyal fans, in came Amazon to save the day and pick it up for a fourth season.
Thanks to the mighty power of Amazon Prime Video, The Expanse gained a much higher viewer count and has become one of the most exciting shows on the streaming platform, with a fifth season releasing late 2020.
Based on a series of novels, The Expanse takes place in the far future after humanity has made home outside Earth and across our Solar System. It follows a crew of independent rogues as they attempt to uncover a thrilling conspiracy theory against an approaching civil war between Earth and Mars.
As far as the space genre goes, The Expanse is both high budget spectacle and thrilling drama, and, with only forty-six episodes to date, it's easily digestible in time for its eager return.
