10 Best Sketch Comedy Series Of All Time

2. The Kids In The Hall

In an era when talking about homosexuality was still extremely taboo, the five Canadians who made up The Kids in the Hall brought it to the forefront of the conversation through comedy.

From 1988 to 1995, the Toronto based comedy troupe broadcast 102 episodes on CBC, HBO and CBS. In the vein of Monty Python, many of their sketches fell in the realm of the absurd, frequently being funny just because they existed. But the Kids in the Hall found comedy in a variety of places.

Life in the LGBT community at that time was a huge part of the series, with Scott Thompson's enduring character Buddy Cole being a prime example of that. They also delved deep into gender based comedy, sketches that frequently featured members of the troupe dressed up like women. Dave Foley in particular could really pull that off.

It was recently announced that The Kids in the Hall would be returning with new episodes on Amazon Prime. It will be hard to live up to the original run but seeing their classic characters deal with the foibles of the modern world could be amazing.
