8. The Return Of The Green Goblin (S4:8)
The Green Goblin is easily the most deadly and important villain of this series, and while Norman Osborn will make numerous appearances elsewhere on the list, one of the greatest episodes involves Harry Osborn's go on the glider.
In the finale of Season 3, Norman Osborn and Mary Jane Watson are sucked into a portal. Harry, haunted by the Green Goblin and the Man-Spider in his dreams, goes insane and becomes takes over the mantle as the new Green Goblin to seek revenge on Spider-Man. At the same time, the Punisher seeks out Peter Parker, believing he's responsible for Mary Jane's disappearance.
This episode hits hard emotionally for many of the characters. Harry discovers that his father was the Green Goblin. Peter Parker is forced to fight his best friend who is losing control of his sanity. Right when Spider-Man sends Osborn to Ravencroft for treatment, Mary Jane appears out of nowhere.
Sadly, Peter will lose Mary Jane once again in Season 5, but this episode's happy ending definitely makes up for the shock of Season 3's finale.
