9. Reed Vs Hayes - Harbinger

Star Trek Reed Hayes
CBS

Honestly, who knew that Malcolm Reed had it in him? Star Trek: Enterprise's third season saw the arrival of a far darker tone for the show, along with an upswing in violence. This wasn't simply confined to the frequent battles with the Xindi, epic as they were. The crew of Enterprise began to feel the strain of the ongoing threats to their lives, with Reed being the one to snap.

In Harbinger, Reed's season-long simmering feud with Major Hayes, the head of the MACO division of marines recently posted to the ship, finally boils over. What begins as a sparring session in the gym becomes a full-on brawl, complete with fists flying and tackling each other to the ground. It's one of the more brutal boxing matches in Star Trek's history, with both Dominic Keating and Stephen Culp throwing themselves into it.

It also serves as a means of blowing off steam - in a cathartic moment at the episode's end, both men seem to have gotten their enmity out of their system, leading to a mutual grin, and a bit of relief going forward.
