8. Neelix The Cat
In Star Trek, there are several characters who are important moral centers of their respective crews. For the lost ship Voyager, that crew member was the Talaxian chef, ambassador, and moral center Neelix.
The impact Neelix had on the crew of the Voyager can be best seen in Reginald Barclay, an engineer who originally appeared aboard the Enterprise-D in The Next Generation.
Ironically, Barclay never actually served aboard the Voyager. Instead, he used a holodeck version of the Voyager and its crew in an attempt to bring the real crew home. Sometime during his transfer from the Enterprise to the Federation project on Earth, Barclay adopted an adorable white cat named Neelix, after the Talaxian crewmember.
Cat Neelix is an adorable pet, best known for eating Deanna Troi's ice cream whenever she would visit her ex crewmate and would be seen sleeping atop Barclay's stomach whenever he got the chance. This feline is on par with Data's cat for having a strange name and also for being a perfect non-holographic companion.
