10 Best Star Trek: Voyager Episodes
6. Message In A Bottle
The USS Prometheus and the EMH Mark-II are introduced in this episode, with The Doctor going on his longest away mission yet. The episode is told purely for comedy, with both holograms doing their best to overcome the Romulan force that has taken over the secret ship. The Romulan team, incidentally, is commanded by Judson Scott, who played Joaquim in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
From the ship separating into three distinct modules, to Romulan Warbirds, Defiant-class vessels and even an Akira-class ship, the episode is a complete riot from start to finish. Robert Picardo and Andy Dick work very well together as the two medical holograms attempting to figure out the systems on the warship, while the rest of the Voyager crew only serve to bookend the episode.
Though they manage to fire on Starfleet vessels along the way, the holograms save the day. The Doctor returns to Voyager with a message from Earth: they are no longer alone. It is a warm and tender moment at the end of one of the funniest episodes to that point.
