10 Best Star Wars: The Clone Wars Episodes
3. Victory And Death (Season 7, Episode 12)
Many good shows struggle to end their run on a particular high note (look no further than How I Met Your Mother, Lost, Dexter or Game of Thrones), but it's still the case that the final episode is often the most important - the one fans most remember when thinking back.
When it came to ending on a high note, The Clone Wars had no issue at all.
The episode picks up after the execution of Order 66. Ahsoka has saved Rex and the two must work together to hold off their former clone friends and find a way off their soon-to-crash ship. As a captive Maul is freed and causes some chaos, Ahsoka and Rex come to terms with what's happening and attempt to find hope in the hopelessness of it all.
Victory and Death is without question the show at its most thoughtful, emotional, harsh and tragic. Ahsoka senses something happening with her old master, Rex begins to question his usual up-beat optimism, and fans get the chance to see what Order 66 really did to the clones.
The final shot, too, complete with a surprise cameo, summarises the entirety of the show, and the whole episode perfectly captures the essence of what Star Wars is all about.
