10 Best Static Shock Episodes

8. Child's Play

Static Shock TV Show
Warner Bros.

Static Shock is - at its core - a monster of the week show. And in terms of that formula, one of the absolute best examples is the episode Child's Play.

The story itself is very simple, but belies certain complexities the more you look at it. Static comes across a new bang baby named Dwayne McCall, easily one of the most powerful in the entire show. Whatever he can think of becomes real and tangible - so long as he keeps concentrating. The only limit to his powers is the fact that he's a little boy, so his imagination is limited to television and video games.

Until, of course, his step-brother enters the picture and begins manipulating him. Static manages to help Dwayne see the truth and the child decides that he's going to wait until he better understands the world and morality before daring to use his powers again.

It's an entertaining episode with inventive fight scenes, Dwayne's powers are explored thoroughly for the short time we see them (to the point where they have their own strict set of rules), and the step-brother serves as an effective villain to help teach kids that even family may not always have your best interests at heart.
