8. "Identity Crisis"
"Identity Crisis" is the sixth episode of the second season in the series and one of the most beloved due to its introduction of one of Superman's most bizarre characters: Bizarro!
The episode kicks off with Superman delivering a rather corny PSA to a group of kids about power line safety before saving Clark Kent as he is thrown from a car on a dangerous mountain road... wait... Superman saving Clark Kent!? How is this possible? That's exactly what Superman/Clark Kent wanted to know and an investigation of sorts ensues.
Eventually, the two Supermen confront one another, but one begins to show white patches on his skin and it doesn't take long before the duplicate is revealed to be Bizarro, who only wants to be a hero like Superman.
The way this episode plays out is rather sad seeing as Bizarro wanted nothing but to become a hero, but his confrontation with Superman and the nature of his creation led him to villainy. Ultimately, Bizarro is believed to have been killed when the lab he was created in is destroyed, but Superman and Lois Lane clearly hoped that wasn't the case. This was a tragic episode, but one that gave a glimpse into a character who is often misunderstood by fans.
