10 Best Superman: The Animated Series Episodes

The tenth episode from the second season, "Double Dose," brought two dangerous enemies of the Man of Steel against him at one time. Livewire escapes from prison and tries to take out Superman once and for all, but can't get through his accursed invulnerability.

To combat this, she recruits the Parasite to drain Superman of his powers so she can finally swoop in and finish him off. Fortunately for Superman, but unfortunately for the villains, they don't exactly get along and are in a constant state of distrust.

Livewire doesn't trust Parasite not to steal her powers and Parasite is never certain she won't turn against him even though she was the one who broke him out of prison. Livewire's concern is justified when Parasite drains Superman's powers only to turn on her and drain hers as well.

Thanks to this betrayal, Parasite is ultimately taken out by Livewire's biggest weakness: water. He is taken out by a massive electric shock and with Livewire drained and Parasite catatonic, Superman easily recovers and returns them to custody. This episode dealt with the nature of trust from the villain's perspective in a way that suggested they could have won the day had they only worked with, and not against, one another.
