10 Best Thanksgiving TV Episodes

4. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Pangs

20th Century Fox

Described as being 'unquestionably one of the most controversial episodes of Buffy,' yet 'one of creator Joss Whedon's declared favourites', Pangs sees Buffy discover the raging spirit of a member of the Chumash tribe, a tribe of Native Americans who were wiped out by white settlers.

Not only does the episode feature your typical bad-ass Buffy vampire slaying and several hilarious moments (including when Buffy tells Willow that Thanksgiving is a sham, but at least it's a sham with yams) it also faces the complicated history of Thanksgiving head-on. Like the Family Guy episode from earlier in the list, television should be celebrated for tackling sensitive issues, even when the results are not always successful. And besides, seeing the whole gang sitting around a Thanksgiving dinner table was absolutely brilliant.
