8. The Trial - What We Do In The Shadows
What We Do In The Shadows - the TV spin-off of the cult-classic spoof film - had a pretty rocky start, with the worry being that the show was simply a pale imitation of the movie set to recycle the same jokes with a 'lesser' cast.
Those fears thankfully didn't last long though, and it turned out the quality of the writing, and the talent of the new cast, could allow this spin-off to stand on its own and compliment its movie big brother.
That came to a head in episode 7, which saw the central vampires on trial for a nasty case of incineration, that blended the worlds of the spin-off and movie properly for the first time. In a surprise move, the original cast, headed by writer Jemaine Clement and director Taika Waititi, returned to act as the foil for the new 'heroes', and it was glorious to behold.
They weren't the only vampiric cameos though, as big-name actors like Danny Trejo and Tilda Swinton turned up as well.
It was more than just a gimmick or a way to boost ratings by reminding people of the film, but a real statement of intent that this show has what it takes to succeed on its own.
