10 Best TV Shows Of Fall 2014

6. Jane The Virgin (The CW, Mondays 9/8c)

As sad as this is, it's entirely possible that Jane the Virgin will be booted from television just because it has a really bad title. Christ on a bike, is it terrible. But if audiences find it in their hearts to look past the god-awful name of the show, they might just find one of the most promising and creative shows on television. Jane the Virgin revolves around a religious young Latina woman who has made the decision to save herself for marriage -- only to discover that she has been artificially inseminated and is now dealing with her very own immaculate conception. Newcomer Gina Rodriguez brings charisma and a sense of fun as her life unapologetically begins to resemble a telenovela. It's great to see a Latina actress as the star of a mainstream TV program on a major network, and Rodriguez does a fantastic job with the material she's been given. Perhaps fittingly, Jane the Virgin will require a leap of faith from viewers, but should pay off for them in a big way.
