BoJack Horseman has received one Emmy nomination in its time, with Kristen Schaal getting the nod for (but not winning) Outstanding Voice Over as Sarah Lynn In That’s Too Much, Man!. No other episodes have been nominated in any category.

That means as well as That’s Too Much, Man!, Downer Ending, The Old Sugarman Place, Escape From LA, Ruthie, Stupid Piece Of Sh*t and, staggeringly, Time’s Arrow have never been nominated. Will Free Churro break that streak this year? Honestly, with Time’s Arrow being overlooked it’s difficult to tell.

Pickle Rick won last year, which is fine, but the fact Big Hero 6 and a so-so Sideshow Bob episode of The Simpsons beat out Time’s Arrow? It feels like a deliberate anti streaming stance from the Emmys - except that they’re more than willing to recognise other streaming titles. It was just a bafflingly bizarre move.

Time’s Arrow explored Alzheimer’s in a way never done on TV, animated or no. Rather than a pull no punches attitude the show is famed for, it instead pulled one punch perfectly at the end, as BoJack realises his mother’s state and chooses to comfort her.

It was truly mesmerising television, though it couldn’t break BoJack’s barren spell.
