10 Best TV Shows That Only Got One Season
2. Terriers
Terriers follows an alcoholic ex-cop, Hank Dolworth, teaming up with his best friend and former criminal, Britt Pollack, to start a private detective agency. At first, they seem like the polar opposite of each other but the pair have a connection since they both feel like they hit rock-bottom before working together. Since the show was created by the same guy who wrote Ocean's Eleven and Matchstick Men, you know the characters are going to have a great dynamic filled with quotable one-liners and quippy banter.
Despite the slick dialogue and great chemistry between the two stars, Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James, FX decided not to green-light a second season.
Why? Because Terriers' ratings could not be worse. That's not an exaggeration. Terriers literally had the worst ratings in the studio's history for a first-season drama.
It's not certain why the show failed. Every critic praised Terriers as one of the best shows of 2010. The series' slot didn't change and didn't have major competition. For some reason, people simply didn't gravitate towards it. And when the ratings were as bad as they were, it doesn't matter how good the show is; cancellation is inevitable.
