10 Best X-Men: The Animated Series Episodes
8. Days Of Future Past, Part 1
Just when you think Season 1 couldn't get any better, they bring out another surprise with Days of Future Past. The iconic comic was given a two-part adaptation in the series, this time sending Bishop back in time to stop a bleak future that one of the X-Men create, rather than Kitty Pryde.
Far from the only instance of time travel in the series, this episode continued to up the stakes beyond that of a normal “villain of the week” template that most other cartoons would go on to use.
Do the X-Men succeed in stopping the assassination of Senator Kelly? Of course, but again, at what cost? When Bishop returns to his time, he discovers that the future remains unchanged. Forge gives an ominous warning that something tragic still happens in the past. As we look on at Wolverine's adamantium skeleton, Forge teases that Bishop will continue to visit the past once the time machine is fixed.
Again, the series keeps us guessing what will happen next and how Bishop's future became so dark.
