10 Biggest Ongoing Criticisms Of The Walking Dead

9. There's Too Many Characters

Season 6 boasted as many as 16 main cast members, and, put simply, that€™s too many. Sure, some of those €˜main€™ cast members are more like glorified supporting characters but it€™s clear the show has been buckling under its own weight lately. There€™s just too much going on and too many people involved to do everyone justice.

The negative effects of this bloated cast are already being felt. Firstly, it means some of the characters are seriously hindered in terms of screen time and development. Furthermore, it€™s taking away from the conflict: with so many people involved and the need to see what€™s happening with every one of them, credible threats often run the risk of becoming afterthoughts.

Even with everyone temporarily reunited, there€™s still not enough time in an episode to showcase them all. While this show was once famous for the mantra that €˜no one is safe,€™ lately it seems that everyone is safe. Though most of the characters are perfectly likeable, it almost feels like the show would be better off if it were to thin the herd.
