10 Biggest Plot Holes In Buffy The Vampire Slayer

4. The Power Of The Vengeance Demons

Season 3 has many outstanding moments. ‘Anne’, ‘The Zeppo’, ‘Doppelgangland’, and ‘Graduation Day’ are all classics. Yet the most interesting episode is definitely ‘The Wish’.

This story introduces us to Vengeance Demons for the first time. Anya grants Cordelia’s wish and turns the world into a dystopian nightmare where vampires rule Sunnydale. It’s a gripping adventure, full of intrigue, suspense, and sadism.

And this isn’t the last time we see a Vengeance Demon. Anya becomes a central character, and the history of her kind is explored in ‘Triangle’ and ‘Selfless’. Crucially, Vengeance Demons have the potential to manipulate the world with their abilities. Given such power, you’d have thought more people would try to exploit them for their own ends.

Only they don’t. Neither the Scooby Gang nor the vampires of Sunnydale seem to recognise the significance of the Vengeance Demons.

Of course, this is really just a plot convenience. If our heroes changed the past in order to thwart their enemies in the present, the show would cease to be interesting.
