10 Biggest Rick & Morty Controversies
6. Bushworld Adventures
Having
set a precedent the year before, Rick and Morty fans were sent into a
fit of excitement when Adult Swim aired a surprise episode on April Fool's
Day 2018. However, this time around the joke wasn't quite as sweet.
Having hoped that the show would premiere the first episode of the new
season, as they had ahead of season three, fans quickly tuned in to
discover something a little... different.
The eleven-minute short was a far cry from the usual antics and viewers were left thinking 'what the heck' as the credits rolled. Things start off like most Rick and Morty episodes, with Rick dragging Morty on an adventure. However, the rest of the episode descends into eleven minutes of pure nightmare fuel. From Rick telling Morty about this murder-suicide plan, to Morty being bitten by a venomous snake on his boy parts, the episode is just a dreadful dive into cheap, shock value humour.
Having listed the episode as a re-run of Mortynight Run, Adult Swim played the short multiple times before returning to regular programming. Fans were shocked and left wondering if the show they loved had changed for good, while panning the short online.
