10 Biggest Takeaways From The Star Trek Day Celebration's Panel Discussions

8. Tributes To Rene Auberjonois And Aron Eisenberg

Star Trek Strange New Worlds
CBS

Last year, we lost both Rene Auberjonois and Aron Eisenberg. The cast and crew of Star Trek Deep Space Nine who attended last night - Ira Stephen Behr, Nana Visitor, Armin Shimerman, Cirroc Lofton, Alexander Siddig and Terry Farrell all shared their memories of both men.

Eisenberg's death came as the greater shock of the two (Auberjonois had been sick with cancer for two years, according to Visitor) and both men have left very big holes in the hearts of their friends. They all spoke about how happy Eisenberg was with the work that he was doing, with a constant concern that he wanted to deliver the best that he could.

Cirroc Lofton in particular recalled how close the pair of them became throughout the run of the show, as they were both closer together in age.

Auberjonois, the cast joked, could be a prickly man when he wanted to be! Ira still has the Odo mask in his home, a token that was given/thrown to him after the final day of shooting. By all accounts, it was not a fun prosthetic to wear. Shimerman was quick to point out that he knew a thing or two about that!
