10 Biggest Wasted Opportunities In Game Of Thrones

2. Arya’s Face Switching

Despite its fantasy and magical elements, Game Of Thrones has typically stuck to realism when it can. However, with Arya’s face switching arc, they played their cards a little close to their chest.

Though not everyone was a fan of Arya and the Faceless Men, it would be harsh to call it wasted potential. The story stumbled at times, but Arya learned vital skills, developed as a person, and most importantly realised that she could not run from Westeros forever.

Despite abandoning the Faceless Men and rejecting the opportunity to truly become No One, it’s clear Arya retains these abilities.

It should be an absolute game changer, but all it’s used for is to stoke some fake rivalry between her and Sansa. Arya ends up killing Littlefinger without her disguises anyway, so the set up matters little.

The only time it was ever really used in Westeros was to take vengeance on the Frey’s for the Red Wedding. While this was a satisfying reveal and as good as we were going to get in the absence of Lady Stoneheart, it still feels like a waste.

This isn’t the only time Arya has closed an arc that was never really hers to begin with either.
