10 Biggest WTF Moments In Recent Horror TV Shows

Stranger Things' Vol. 4 saw its most WTF worthy scene to date hit screens as new ultra-villain Vecna made his bow, terrorizing and then brutally murdering cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham to get the new season off to a bang.

The reason that this was such a shocking moment for fans was the fact that Stranger Things had never seen a villain with abilities and intelligence like Vecna before. Sure, the Demogorgons and Demodogs were appropriately sinister, but they lacked the guile to be truly terrifying antagonists. The closest the show had come was in the previous season, where the Mind Flayer used the voice of Billy Hargrove to put words to the wicked malevolence radiating from the Upside Down, but even then, the visage it created was unable to physically harm Eleven with more than words.

Step forward Vecna, who swiftly reveals that he is more than capable of doing devastating damage in a person's mind; his victims snap into a trance in the real world while their minds are transported to a horrendous alternate dimension in which Vecna hunts and murders them. Viewers knew from previous scenes that Vecna could torment his victims with nightmarish visions but this does little to prepare them for the monstrous villain gouging out Chrissy's eyes and snapping her limbs like matchsticks in an absolutely macabre conclusion to the first episode of Vol. 4.

The unexplained nature of the new villain's monstrous new powers and the horrific manner in which Chrissy meets her death left viewers wondering what on earth Netflix's flagship show had planned for them next.
