The general concept of Megan Wants a Millionaire is perhaps not that strange. A bit depressing, perhaps, but not strange. Megan is a professional reality television star (she was also featured on Beauty and the Geek, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, I Love Money, and Rock of Love: Charm School), and she'd like to be able to give that all up and be a trophy wife to some idiot desperate for attention with an account in the Cayman Islands. Each of the men on the show essentially attempt to buy her affections which, to be totally fair to them, absolutely works on the remarkably materialistic Megan. If you didn't know any better, this could be Cold War era Soviet propaganda to warn their citizens about the dangerous of American capitalism. That's how ridiculously over the top it is. But the really bizarre aspect of the show is not the premise, but what happened while it was being broadcast. After four of the show's episodes had been aired back in 2009, contestant Ryan Jenkins was charged with the murder of his wife, Jasmine Fiore. He was later found in a British Columbia motel room, dead from an apparent suicide. Upon hearing this news, producers swiftly cancelled the show, later releasing the information that Jenkins had been a finalist on Megan Wants a Millionaire.
