10 Bold TV Predictions For 2016

1. Game Of Thrones Will Return To Form

Return to form? How can a show return to form when it never stopped being good? That may be so, but for many, Game Of Thrones season five was the show at its most muddled, struggling to come up with non-book material and inserting shock where it was perhaps not necessary. Nevertheless, Game Of Thrones season six will be a return to form, ascending to the heights of quality experienced in previous seasons. Why? Well, it's no secret that the vast majority of season six will be based on wholly original material, seeing how The Winds Of Winter has yet to be published. Or so it was strongly believed, anyway, until the start of January 2016, when George R.R. Martin published a lengthy blog post apologising for the book's delay. In that post, he admits that season six of the show will spoil various aspects of the upcoming book, meaning that the writers are not working wholly from their own invention, but have a basic guideline to work from. On top of that, TV shows are not written in a vacuum. One season is not written after the next has ended, writers are always thinking ahead. It's clear that season five was something of a transition, using up the last of the available source material and throwing everyone into new situations during the finale. The writers have obviously been planning for this eventuality, and know exactly what they're going to do next €“ the fifth season was just a way of getting there. Expect a massive return to form when Game Of Thrones season six finally airs. What are your predictions for TV in 2016? Let us know in the comments.Like this article?
