10 Buffy The Vampire Slayer Actors Who Went On To Star In Supernatural
1. James Marsters
James Marsters and sci-fi/fantasy television go together like Buffy and Angel. (Or should that be Buffy and Spike? Angel and Spike?) Brainiac on Smallville, Mister Fantastic on The Super Hero Squad, Captain John Hart on Torchwood; you name it, he's played it.
But no role surpasses his 96-episode tenure on Buffy The Vampire Slayer as Captain Peroxide himself: Spike. Breaking the mould and building a new one, Marsters made such an impact as the bad boy vampire in season two that fans demanded him back, and popularity kept him on the show full-time from season four till the end. Whether it's the devil-may-care attitude, the punk rock English accent or the leather duster, Spike has reverberated through Marsters' career and changed the pop culture canon.
Though the character was killed off in Buffy's finale, a funky amulet brought him back to Wolfram & Hart for Angel's fifth season, and his married-couple-charisma with David Boreanaz (Angel) breathed a new lease of life into the show.
Fitting, then, that he should appear in Supernatural coupled with one of his old co-stars. That's right, Marsters starred alongside Charisma Carpenter's in "Shut Up, Dr. Phil" as Don Stark, her no-good cheating husband, and a powerful witch to boot. The pair made the cameos their own and really laid into the troubled marriage dynamic. But, all's well that ends well, and the episode saw the pair kiss and make up. And, hey, if the show hadn't ended we might even have hoped to see them again.
