10 Buffy The Vampire Slayer Characters Killed Off At The Perfect Time

Professor Maggie Walsh is introduced to the series in season four. At first appearing simply as Buffy and Willow's strict College Psychology Professor, it is eventually revealed that Walsh is the head of The Initiative, a government program that hunts and studies demons. Buffy's new boyfriend, Riley Finn, also works for the organisation.

At first, it seems like Walsh and The Initiative are set up to be the season's Big Bads, especially after Walsh deems Buffy a risk to her plans and tries to have her killed.

However, in the very same episode, Walsh herself is killed by her own creation, Adam, a Frankenstein-like human/demon hybrid. Adam, not The Initiative, soon proves to be the biggest threat to Buffy and her friends. The surprising death of Professor Walsh and introduction of Adam as the year's true Big Bad was a much needed twist, providing a memorable moment in what was otherwise Buffy The Vampire Slayer's most lacklustre season.
