10 Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes That Are Almost Perfect

6. Conversations With Dead People (Season 7, Episode 7)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Mutant Enemy

‘Conversations with Dead People’ is a standout episode in the final season. Buffy enjoys a midnight conversation with an ex-classmate who’s become a vampire. Dawn is terrorised by a series of supernatural events. And Willow talks to the ghost of Cassie, a young high-schooler who died earlier on in the season.

The dialogue is top-notch, and the actors don’t put a foot wrong throughout this fascinating episode. Right at the very end, Willow starts to suspect something sinister is happening when Cassie encourages her to take her own life. Cassie (who’s actually the First Evil) also talks about her intentions for the Scooby Gang, claiming that she will devour them.

Then, Cassie gives Willow a weird, CGI-infused grin before she turns inside out and vanishes into thin air. It’s an awkward exit that’s dated horribly thanks to the rudimentary special effects. It would have been much better if the First Evil had just walked away at the end of the scene.
